| The Collection
The Machold Collection is one of the finest and most diverse in Europe, including examples by Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesu and Bergonzi. For the first time these instruments are available in New York City. Dietmar Machold also privately owns the famous bow collection of Walter Hamma, who was a leading dealer and expert.
The Machold archive consists of detailed documentation of the firm's own instruments and also includes those of Hamma & Company of Stuttgart and that of W.E. Hill & Sons of London. Dietmar Machold has worked closely with many European banks and assisted the National Bank of Austria in acquiring a collection of fine stringed instruments. Now the most significant public collection of instruments in Europe, it includes examples by Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini, Amati and Montagnana. This collection enriches the international music scene as these instruments are in constant use by well known artists.
